I just went down to the Rutland City PD with my daughter and her boyfriend to lay some flowers outside. While we were there an officer was coming down Strongs Ave., saw us, and pulled in. He got out of his squad car in tears, and hugged all of us! It was hard to see this officer in so much pain. He is alway so positive when I see him at event around the city. It was really hard to see him hurting so badly.
With so many kids getting out of Rutland as fast as they can ( not judging. There are way more opportunities outside Vermont) Jess decided at 9yo that she wanted to make Rutland a better place. She worked her butt off to get hired by the Rutland City PD at age 19. She had a bright future ahead of her, and her life was cut WAY to short. Everyone is hurting and can use a boost right now.
So, please take 10 minutes out of your day to buy up all the flowers from the grocery stores in the area. Grab a sharpie, write a message, and get it down to the Rutland City PD to show the world we are Rutland Strong! Do it for Jess, for her Family, For Rutland PD, for Rutland City Fire & Rescue, and for the City of Rutland. I saw this morning that bringing these flowers down to the PD matters to them, and I'm sure her family feels the same.
My Sister who is a Polk County Sheriff in Florida. Rutland Strong for you to Melanie Audette much love sis!!!
Oh, and if you see an officer over the next couple weeks. Stop to give them a hug, and thank them for being the shield willing to step between us, and pure Evil. They really need it right now!
