HAPPY Jerry Lawler DAY!
Five minutes ago my daughter looked at me and said "What possessed you to do this show?"
I said, without this guy (and Lance Russell) I'm not sure where I would be.
BUT, in Evansville, it's Jerry Lawler Celebration all weekend long.
I'm only one man who did this entire by myself but it's going to be THE show I'm most proud of in 35 years of running live events. This is a bucket list moment for me and I'm complete.
My crazy ass wrote my first book in the middle of the 8 month planning of this show. Why? Because Jerry drops hints and no one else ever takes them. The records, the comics, the "I wish I could do a coffee table book with my art"....I listen to that stuff and I get s**t done.
The most amazing thing about this is that I traced back the first day I became a wrestling fan. May 11, 1974. 50 years exactly to the day of this convention.
How do I know? We had to do square dancing in kindergarten at Harwood Gradeschool's May Day event and I had to hold a girl's hand...gross!
The Saturday before May Day week, I remember seeing Jerry Lawler on TV for the first time. He was the arrogant heel beating a jabroni up on TV for 9:57.
How do I remember it was that time? Because I thought it was so cool that he kept pulling the guy off the mat about 10 times, refusing to pin him until the 10 minutes was up. I don't know why this stuck with me for 50 years but it changed my life....the suddenly dreaded that Wednesday square dance routine.
I'll save the good stuff for tomorrow night. I have put together some surprises that will make the people their pop! At least I think.
When this is all said and done and grown men in the audience cry, life is complete. Then we can just go back to being normal and watch Jerry's first-place Cleveland Guardians finally get to the Series or plummet into last place. Either way, just wanna go back to being Jerry's friend.
He gave my woman Shara Jerusa an amazing way to do art that she absolutely loves. By the way, I think you'll like the sweet gift she's presenting you with this weekend Jerry Lawler
I'm about passed out but know I have 5 more hours of work tonight....go to be at 2:30 and get up at 6:00. But me, like others coming tomorrow, would do anything for this guy.
This is my art and my gift to the King! I better not screw this up.
