It’s a changing of the guard this morning. I have to admit that the toughest part for me was seeing the signs come down and the dream coming to an end. It was about 10 years ago we pulled the GeeO’s sign down and put the Railroad & 2nd sign up.

Devin Englund was in town to put up the new Somedays Bar and Grill sign today. He had also done our sign for us. I did make arrangements to be able to keep the old signs and add to my collection. 😉 This new one should look great lit up.

Kellie Anderson took another step toward fulfilling her dream of owning her own bar & grill and making Somedays Bar and Grill a reality this morning. Justin Anderson with the Anderson Law Office in Elbow Lake handled the closing paperwork for us. Kellie and her team have done an outstanding job of getting the place ready for her scheduled opening date of April 1.

The transformation is under way. It has been a very busy few days for the Anderson family and others involved.

There is no doubt in my mind that we made the right decision at the right time and to the right people. It is just finding a new home for all of our (mainly my) stuff that is a challenge. They are making some changes that I had never thought about as well as many that I have dreamed about and knew that this facility could be.

New Ownership Announcement

We have some bittersweet news to share with you. We have sold the Railroad & 2nd Event Center to Kellie & Tyler Anderson of Evansville.

Although we did not have the event center listed for sale, we feel the timing was right for someone younger with ambitions and goals to take on this adventure. Kellie has management experience in the food and entertainment industry and I think she will shine with this new opportunity.

It was a dream of mine to own an event center, music venue and to provide a place where the community could gather. I thank LeAnn for letting me chase it. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who helped make our dream a reality. We truly enjoyed every minute.

The Lund Family was in the house for their annual Christmas event again this year. They tried an early morning brunch for the first time this year and it sounds like it was a favorite for many of the families. We were fortunate to help the Ostlund Family pull off a surprise 90th birthday for JoAnne Ostlund today. There was an awesome crowd of family and friends on hand to help her celebrate. Great granddaughter Brooklyn provided the music for two hours. Her sister Maddy joined in on harmonies for several of the songs.

Although JoAnne was not big on the idea of a party, I think she was truly happy getting to see many friends and relatives that she hasn’t seen for quite a while. I think we all hope that we are that spry at ninety years young…

Another great Santa Days event in Evansville tonight. Thanks to everyone that helps pull this together. Like many of the events of this type, there is a lot of behind the scenes work that happens to make it possible and successful. What started out a little slower tonight, quickly turned into a full blown ‘mad house’. A great time was had by all that attended!! Thanks to the Evansville Community Club for carrying on this old holiday tradition. I still remember watching a movie in the old gym, visiting with Santa and getting a paper bag full of peanuts, an orange and a clump of hard candy that was all stuck together… Great memories!!!
