Stream Bienen School of Music professor Hans Thomalla's opera "Dark Spring" now through Dec. 7. The "corona-staged" production premiered Sept. 11 at National Theater Mannheim.

Based on Frank Wedekind’s 19th-century play “Spring Awakening,”which dramatizes the impact of the oppressive culture of the 19th century on a group of young adults, Thomalla’s opera shifts the focus to the contemporary stigma around mental health issues and provides an ambio-techno soundtrack for the piece.

Dark Spring, a new opera by Professor Hans Thomalla, is now available for streaming on the Mannheim National Theatre website until December 7, 2020.
