Festival Congo, Inc.

Festival Congo, Inc. To showcase the arts, cultures and traditions of diverse communities through visual, performing & literary works Come celebrate with us!!

Festival Congo is a non-profit organization that uses the arts to raise funds and awareness of the many issues that effect adolescents and youths throughout the world, while celebrating the rich
cultures and traditions that bind us. Our annual festival features the sight

s and sounds of the many artists of African descent and those that are influenced by the rhythms and dances of the African people throughout the world. The festival highlights what makes our music unique, and its rich traditions that have been exported around the world. From the amazing rhythms to the regional flavours, Festival Congo has it all. Born from the desire to showcase the music and history of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the African-American culture she was raised in, Ndona the daughter of a music professor, and son of D.R. Congo, and an African-American model, wanted to create an event that would help to tell the story of the people that make her who she is. Two nations combined have taught her that we are all unique and have something to give for the betterment of our communities. Growing up in the United States immersed in a family that was both diverse and forward thinking, through dance and music Ndona always felt drawn to the nation of her father, embracing the arts, and languages, all in the attempt to understand and connect with the nation of her fathers ancestors. More often than not, the story of communities of colour are told from the standpoint of those that know very little about the people, and almost nothing about their many cultures and traditions. The regional delicacies, music, dance, and mannerisms lay the foundation for what she has always wanted to share. A festival steeped in tradition that encompasses not only the amazing wildlife, flora and fauna, but the most IMPORTANT, its people; a people that have sustained for many generations, and that will do so for many to come.
