Audition Notice: A Christmas Carol
A Hideaway Mainstage Production
Auditions are now open for non-equity talent for the upcoming Mainstage production of A Christmas Carol.
Charles Dickens ' most beloved story returns to Hideaway for its third annual run. With what was our most successful show of the 2025-2026 season, we are thrilled to continue the family tradition this season.
A Christmas Carol tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly and bitter old man who hates Christmas. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. These supernatural encounters force Scrooge to confront his past mistakes, acknowledge the suffering of others, and envision a grim future if he continues his ways. Ultimately, Scrooge experiences a profound transformation, becoming a kind, generous, and joyful man who embraces the spirit of Christmas and humanity.
A note about our production... most cast members will play multiple roles to achieve paid status. Children's roles will not be paid. During the run of the show, cast will also be responsible for set changes, which will happen in front of the audience. Lastly, several other smaller roles may be added during the rehearsal process.

Solicitor, charity collector floored by Scrooge's miserliness - M or F 18+

Ghost of Past, the first of the spirits - M or F any age
Child Scrooge - M to play under 10
Teen Scrooge - M to play 12-14
Fan, Scrooge's young sister - F to play 8-12
Dick Wilkins, Teen Scrooge's friend - M to play 12-14
Mr. Fezzywig, Teen Scrooge's Employer - M to play 40+

Young Belle - F to play 10-14

SEPT 26, at 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
SEPT 27, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Callbacks, if necessary, Oct 1, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Virtual Submissions accepted but may require callback.
What we need to see... For in-person or video submissions, please submit the form below, including a theatrical resume (if you have one), headshot (or selfie), and a monologue of 1:30 or less that best shows off your talent. Comedic or dramatic is your choice!
In-person auditioners will present their monologue in person and need not submit a video.
In-person auditions and callbacks will consist of cold reads/sides from the script.
Children who do not have a monologue prepared can simply tell us about themselves and/or tell a story about their favorite Christmas
