We’re excited to be able to welcome back legendary Blues/Jazz/Roots guitarist Duke Robillard to the Redwood Coast!
The word legend is often used casually but it is the lifetime earned reputation for 2x-GRAMMY® Award Nominee and 4x Blues Music Award “Guitarist of the Year”, Duke Robillard. Since starting his musical career in 1967 by founding and fronting Roomful of Blues, Duke has been at the forefront of Blues, Swing and classic R&B/Jump blues for over 50 years, earning him his legendary status as one of the most respected blues and roots music guitarists working today.

Duke has been a frequent guitarist-of-choice for folks such as Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jay McShann, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hammond, the late Jimmy Witherspoon, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, and many others. His seminal band “Roomful of Blues” helped jump start the swing revival and is cited as an influence by many of the genre’s finest players. The NEW YORK TIMES raves, “Robillard is a soloist of stunning force and originality.”

If you've been here in the past you know that we're honored to have a special relationship with Duke. We are honored that he calls us his “Favorite music festival on the PLANET”. Duke loves to come here with special projects, playing the music he loves and collaborating with other great musicians from around the world. And we are honored to have Duke here on our stages.

Duke will be performing throughout the weekend and his Blues, Jazz and Swing prowess will be on display in a variety of collaboration sets. Whether it's a song, a style, an idiom or an image, Robillard will render it with mastery, power, nuance and an unerring grasp of its essence.

Welcome back guitarist extraordinaire Duke Robillard!

We're excited to be welcoming back one of the world's premier swing dance bands - Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five, featuring Hilary Alexander in 2026!

Showcasing the small-group sound of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, the Campus Five is the most danceable swing band anywhere. The 7-piece Campus Five captures the true sound of the Swing-era, with all the energy and excitement that inspired millions to dance. Influences include the Benny Goodman Sextet, Artie Shaw's Grammercy Five, Count Basie's Kansas City Six, and the Harlem-based small groups of Illinois Jacquet, Cootie Williams, Coleman Hawkins, and Hot Lips Page.

Jonathan Stout is one of the world's premier swing guitarists and you'll also find him in collaboration sets throughout the festival weekend. Both founders (Hilary and Jonathan) have been dedicated Swing dancers for over 25 years, and the relationship between Swing music and Swing dance informs all aspects of the Campus Five. Song selection, tempo, song length and feel are all chosen with danceability in mind.

The Campus Five have been featured at every premier Swing dance event around the world, and we are excited to have them back at the Redwood Coast!

Making their first trip to Redwood Coast Music Festival - Multiple Blues Music Award winning Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling! Formed in 2016, the group is widely regarded as one of the leading torchbearers for traditional blues, blending classic Chicago, Texas, and West Coast sounds with their own fresh, modern twist.

Nick Moss first made a name for himself playing bass for bluesman Jimmy “Fast Fingers” Dawkins. Dawkins encouraged Nick to unleash his fire and passion. From there, Moss was chosen by Willie “Big Eyes” Smith to join his Legendary Blues Band, but Smith insisted Moss switch to guitar. Blues icon Jimmy Rogers (whose best known songs included "Walking By Myself" and "Ludella") hired Moss as his touring guitarist, mentoring him on the blues lifestyle along the way. Today, Moss’ blistering fretwork, impassioned, soul-charged vocals and memorable original songs place him in a league of his own.

Dennis Gruenling is considered among today’s most innovative and creative blues harmonica players. His high-energy, full-throttle reed work has earned him comparisons to many of the greats, including the late James Cotton. A self-taught player and a natural entertainer with seven solo albums and numerous guest appearances to his credit, Gruenling’s giant, fat-toned harp work, raw-boned singing and untamed energy are a perfect foil for Moss’ inspired guitar playing and straight-from-the-shoulder blues vocals. Vintage Guitar says, “Gruenling’s harp, along with the Midwestern intensity of Moss’ blues guitar, is pure ecstasy.”

Their first two Alligator albums, 2018's The High Cost Of Low Living and 2019’s Lucky Guy!, hit blues fans, press and radio by storm. Moss, Gruenling and the band received a total of five Blues Music Awards, with wins in 2020 for Band Of The Year, Song Of The Year (“Lucky ) and Traditional Blues Album Of The Year (Lucky Guy!), and in 2019 for Traditional Blues Male Artist (Moss) and Instrumentalist—Harmonica (Gruenling). Blues Music Magazine says, “Nick Moss is a major force in contemporary blues. Dennis Gruenling plays soaring harp...infectious and finger-snappin’.”

Joining us for the weekend in 2026 - welcome Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling to the Redwood Coast!!

We're excited to be able to welcome back Sean “Mack” McDonald here to the Redwood Coast Music Festival for 2026! Last year was his first trip ever to Northern California and soon after he took the stage we knew that it wasn't going to be his last. He knocked our socks off and rocked our venues!

Considered by most to be "the future of the blues" His first Album for Little Village , "Have Mercy" was recorded at Kid Andersen's Greaseland Studiots and just earned Sean his first of what is certain to be a collection of Blues Music Awards.

"The moment I heard young Sean McDonald, I knew something truly great was about to happen in our modest little Blues world.
Even then, this kid from Augusta, GA was already building an encyclopedic knowledge of deep, classic, and varied Blues styles—some reaching back long before his grandparents were born. He had learned to play nearly every instrument in church. He was connecting the dots: from the gospel quartet guitar of the Dixie Hummingbirds’ Howard Carroll, to the swinging jazz-blues of Bill Jennings, to more Kings than you could shake a stick at. And he continues blowing my mind—not only as a musician, but as a dynamite vocalist and songwriter. All of us at Little Village are proud to present his debut album to the world. This is what it’s all about.

McDonald’s the kind of musician who carries his entire background and palette into any direction the songs take. It’s all second nature to him. He effortlessly straddles the classic styles with authenticity and creativity, all the while sounding uniquely himself.
And this is his moment. He is on the crest of a wave coming to the Blues world—a tsunami of fresh, formidable talent unlike anything I’ve seen in my lifetime. It’s time to make room, lots of room, for this new generation of Blues artists. Jontavious Willis, DK Harrell, Candace Ivory, Stephen Hull. Original, relevant, fresh. Marquise Knox, Harrell Davenport, Dylan Triplett, Kingfish, Matthias Lattin. New, living extensions of a tradition they proudly carry forward.
Sean McDonald is poised to stand at the forefront of this wave ushering in a new Golden Age of the Blues. Where it goes from here, I don’t know. But he and the artists rising with him—are my number one reason to feel excited to be alive in 2025"
Kid Anderson

Don't miss this chance to see Sean here this year - he'll be appearing Friday, Saturday and in a Little Village/Greaseland blowout party on Sunday. You'll see what the excitement is all about and that the future of the blues is secure in his hands!

Coming in 2026! Alligator Recording artist, award winning blues vocalist, harmonica master and songwriting legend Rick Estrin, leader of the musically fearless, wildly entertaining, award-winning band Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, doesn't like to talk much about his own musical superpowers. But ask him about the Nightcats—multi-instrumentalist/musical mastermind/producer Christoffer "Kid" Andersen, keyboardist/organ wizard/bass player Lorenzo Farrell and endlessly creative drummer Derrick "D'Mar" Martin—and he'll be happy to sing their praises. "This band is killer. I'm enjoying this all more than ever," says the man who's been performing and recording professionally since the early 1970s. "It's a blessing—there's so much energy, so much collaboration. The band is just so good right now. And the live show is better than ever." Living Blues calls Rick Estrin & The Nightcats "a terrific blues band with a real character for a front man," continuing, "Clever, well-crafted songs framed by first-flight musicianship...hugely entertaining, intelligently conceived and executed roots rock with a wickedly cool and otherworldly twist on tradition. Estrin's harp work is masterful."
In addition to Estrin's celebrated songwriting and peerless blues harmonica playing, he and the band are among the most entertaining and colorful showmen around. Estrin's signature streetwise vocals and hipster-cool look, Andersen's eye-popping, off-the-cuff guitar pyrotechnics, Farrell's mighty organ, piano and bass work and D'Mar's dynamic, acrobatic drumming make every one of their live performances a must-see event. "People don't go out to see people who look like themselves," says Estrin. "They want to see something special. I was schooled in this business to be a showman, and that's what you get when you come to see us perform. We know how to put on a show. I feel sorry for anyone who has to follow us."
