We’re excited to share more about our bi-monthly food distribution 🍎

In partnership with local ranchers and farmers, and with support from Food for Lane County, we’re working to increase access to whole, locally produced foods, prioritizing historically and currently marginalized communities.

Through our Food Distribution Center, individuals and families can access:
• Red meats (beef, lamb, goat)
• Poultry & pork
• Seasonal fresh fruits & vegetables
• Culturally specific whole foods to better meet our community’s needs

Thank you to Food for Lane County for partnering with us in this work to address food insecurity.

Feel free to share with someone who could benefit 💛

As the weather warms up in Eugene, the energy is picking up, y'all! Folks are outside, showing up, and we’re excited to keep creating spaces to connect.

One of our favorite recent moments? An Evening with the Portland Fire! 🔥 Being in the room celebrating women’s sports, culture, and community all at once just felt good.

Huge thank you to the Portland Fire for pulling up and sharing space with us, to Kodjo Wilder for guiding such a meaningful conversation, and to Sania Thomas and Christina Munoz for helping bring it all together. Shout out to the WNBA players as well - thank you, Haley Jones and Sug Sutton, for being in community with us.

Big love to the Portland Fire for building community with us and to everyone who came through and showed out. Y’all made it super special!

🏡 Introducing BCI's newest program: Black Tenant Empowerment – Rent Well Series

At BCI, we believe housing security is a foundation for thriving communities. That’s why we’re committed to equipping Black renters with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to confidently navigate the housing system.

This six-part series is centered on tenant rights, rental stability, and empowerment—because we know access to clear information and advocacy is key to long-term housing security.

• Build stability for yourself and your household

🗓 May 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 & 22

📍 1695 Jefferson St, Eugene

Participants receive:
• Individualized support
• Limited rental & utility assistance
• Up to $5K in landlord support (eligibility-based)

🌍 Happy Earth Day, y'all!

For generations, Black communities have cultivated deep connections to the land—growing food, preserving cultural traditions, and creating spaces of resilience and self-determination. From ancestral farming practices to today’s community gardens, caring for the earth has always been a way we care for each other. 🌱

At BCI, this is part of how we build community resiliency—through connection to land, food, and each other.

Here are 4 ways to support Black land stewardship this Earth Day:
🌿 Support Black-owned farms and growers
🌿 Learn about the history of Black agriculture and land justice
🌿 Show up for local community gardens and green spaces
🌿 Share resources and knowledge within your community

And if you’re ready to get involved, then join us for our upcoming Gardening series!

This Saturday is our Garden series kick-off partay!
📅 Saturday, April 25th, 1–3 PM
📍 The People’s Collective Community Garden (1695 Jefferson St)
