USTRC Speaker Spotlight 🌟

850+ runners. 90 participating races. One powerful idea.

Renee Janssen is the co-founder of Go Beyond Racing - a Pacific Northwest series that says "GO!" nearly 40 times a year + the co-founder of The Trail Mix Fund, which pays race registration fees for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and financially-strained runners so they can toe the start line for free.

Renee will be moderating Building a More Inclusive Race Community at the 2026 USTRC - an honest, inspiring conversation about what it really means to open the trails to everyone.

This is the kind of work that moves our sport forward.

USTRC Speaker Spotlight 🌟 Mandy Mullen

Community is Mandy Mullen's superpower. And it turns out, it's also one of the most powerful sponsorship tools a race director can have. 🙌

Meet Mandy Mullen - founder of miles.Beyond Running Company, race director, ultrarunner, UESCA-certified coach, and one of the most community-driven leaders in our sport. Mandy has built a thriving race series in Northern Colorado that welcomes everyone - from kids' runs to ultras to overnight relays - and has used running as a tool to strengthen communities and support local nonprofits along the way.

She serves on the 2026 USTRC Advisory Committee and will be joining the panel for Race Sponsors & Other Revenue Streams at the 2026 USTRC.

Sponsorship dollars don't just show up - they're built through relationships, strategy, and knowing your value.

We're thrilled to have Micah Rice on the panel for Sponsors & Other Revenue Streams at the USTRC. With roots in the cycling world and most recently with Life Time - directing Coldwater Trail and launching a new Leadville 100 qualifier in the Southeast - Micah brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to build partnerships that last at every level of the sport.

If you want to attract better sponsors, diversify your revenue, and build a financially
sustainable event, this is the session for you.

Permits. Access. Land agency relationships.

Public lands advocacy is one of the most complex challenges we face as a trail running community - and it affects every trail racedirector, every runner, every race.

At the USTRC, we're bringing together voices to share strategies and insights for protecting the trails we love. And we're so excited that Tim Tollefson - founder of Mammoth Trailfest & theMAMMOTH, two of America's most beloved trail running events, 3x USATF Trail National Champ, and Runners for Public Lands board member - will be on the panel for The Future of Public Lands and Trail Running.

This is a conversation worth showing up for.

Dr. Andy Pasternak: Medical Director, Western States 100 and Tahoe Endurance Runs
Session: Medical Guidelines for Every Size Race

Dr. Andy Pasternak has spent years at the intersection of medicine and ultrarunning, serving as medical director for the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance Races and the Western States 100. He's also an Associate Editor for the Annals of Family Medicine - and a trail runner himself, which means his perspective isn't just clinical, it's firsthand.

When Dr. Pasternak stepped into medical direction for trail events, he quickly recognized how different covering an ultramarathon is from a road race, and set out to build frameworks that actually fit the sport. That practical, on-the-ground experience is exactly what this panel is designed to surface. Medical guidelines can feel out of reach for smaller events - this session at USTRC 2026 is a look at what's actually workable across race sizes and budgets.

USTRC Speaker Spotlight🌟

: Race Director, Aravaipa Running
Session: Runner & Volunteer Experience

Jubilee joined Aravaipa Running in 2016 and within a year was directing two of the most iconic events in the sport -  and

In the years since, she's built a reputation not just for logistical precision but for understanding what runners actually feel on course and at the finish line.

For Jubilee, the measure of a well-run event isn't just the logistics coming together - it's creating an environment where athletes can embrace possibility, however they define that for themselves. That philosophy shapes everything from aid station culture to start-line energy, and it's exactly what she'll be bringing to Nashville.

Her session on Runner & Volunteer Experience will dig into the intentional choices that turn a well-organized race into something people talk about for years. If you produce events, direct races, or influence how runners engage with your brand, this is the conversation you don't want to miss.
