Theft of Festival Tip Boxes

We are extremely disappointed and frankly disgusted to report that several of the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival’s tip boxes were stolen from our venue during the weekend of September 11–13, 2026.

These tip boxes were not collecting money for the festival, our staff, or anyone’s personal benefit. Every dollar collected supports our Educational Outreach Program, an initiative the festival has proudly supported for several years to help bring Scottish and Irish culture, history, music, and traditions to young people through educational opportunities.

Whoever stole these tip boxes should understand exactly what they took.

You didn’t just steal a box of cash. You took money that people generously donated to help children. You took money directly from a program designed to educate and enrich young people's lives.

There is something particularly shameful about stealing from a youth program. It takes a special kind of selfishness and disregard for others to see money intended to benefit children and decide to take it for yourself.

Quite frankly, stealing from a youth educational program is about as low as it gets.

Our festival community is built on generosity, volunteerism, tradition, and a genuine desire to give back. The people who contributed to those tip boxes did so because they believed their money was going toward something worthwhile. Someone chose to betray that trust and take it.

We sincerely hope the individual or individuals responsible have the decency to return what was stolen. If anyone witnessed suspicious activity around the tip boxes or has information that may help identify those responsible, we ask that you contact the festival.

We will not let this incident take away from the importance of our Educational Outreach Program. We will continue supporting our youth, continuing our educational efforts, and continuing the traditions that this festival was built upon.

To those who donated: thank you. Your generosity matters, and we are sorry that someone chose to take advantage of it.

To the person who stole from us: you should be ashamed of yourself. You didn’t just steal money—you stole from children and from an entire community that works hard to give them opportunities.

🏴🔥 WHAT A WAY TO CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF SCOTFEST! 🔥🏴

We kicked off the 50th Anniversary of the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival on Thursday night at Full Throttle Distillery, and the celebration continued all the way to The Stanley to catch Cal! 🥃🎶

Then the festival weekend truly came alive! From Highland cows 🐄 and weapons demonstrations ⚔️ to Odell Brewing 🍺, an incredible lineup of clans, record-breaking performances, and tons of amazing shopping, there was something happening around every corner.

And the music! 🎶 From the main stages to performances throughout the festival grounds, incredible musicians kept the celebration going all weekend long.

A Heartfelt Thank You
To all of our staff, entertainers, competitors, volunteers, and spectators, that helped us make the 50th fèis so memorable!
We want to take a moment to say something that sometimes gets lost in all the planning, preparation, excitement, and hard work:

Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

This event would simply not be possible without each and every one of you.

We know that we cannot please everyone all of the time. We understand that there may be things that don't go exactly as planned or that may not meet everyone's expectations. Please know that we truly do listen, we truly do care, and we work very hard to make this event the best experience possible for everyone involved.

What many people may not see is just how much work goes on behind the scenes throughout the entire year. We operate on a very small, shoestring budget, and there are really only two of us working year-round to bring this whole thing together. There are countless hours of planning, phone calls, emails, paperwork, problem-solving, organizing, worrying, and dreaming that go into making this event happen.

But the truth is, the two of us could never carry this forward alone.

It takes every one of you.

It takes the staff who show up and work hard
