2026 PRO-LIFE BREAKFAST ATTENDANCE 550
People for Life’s annual Pro-Life Breakfast was attended by 550 Erie-area residents this past Saturday morning, January 17. The event was held at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center.
Lydia Taylor Davis, national spokesperson for Students for Life of America, was the special guest speaker. Lydia looked back on experiences from her own college campus, where she spoke out against abortion, worked for proper on-campus arrangements for pregnant students, and assisted fellow students in crisis pregnancy situations—all while living with an unfortunate amount of hate and harassment from students with contrasting opinions and values.
Lydia also talked about the campus tours she has been conducting over past several years, engaging students with opposing views on the topic of abortion and the value and dignity of every human life and human being.
Also speaking that morning were: Congressman Mike Kelly, state Representative Brad Roae, Slippery Rock Mayor JD Longo, Gannon University Students for Life President Clare Caulfield, and Catholic Bishop Lawrence Persico.
People for Life’s Wagner Award was presented to a young couple who recently experienced the death of a child just minutes after birth. In the wake of a diagnosis of serious fetal anomaly, the couple cherished and protected their child until his premature but natural demise. The baby's mom is a vice president of the People for Life organization.
The Wagner Award honors the memory of Joanne Wagner, who passed away, along with her unborn child, while en route to the third Washington, DC March for Life on January 22, 1976. This year marks the 50th anniversary of that tragic event.
