FAIR Fun Facts:
* Established in 1863, the King County Fair is the Oldest Fair west of the Mississippi
* Abraham Lincoln was President and the Battle of Gettysburg was taking place then
* Originally held in Georgetown before moving to Renton and then Enumclaw
* Moved here from Seattle, three of the main Fair buildings are from the 1962 World’s Fair
* A nonprofit group took over operation of the Fair from the City of Enumclaw in 2015

The COVID-19 pandemic 😷 changed everything.

Faced with the difficult decision to cancel the longest-running fair west of the Mississippi River, the fair team was determined to keep the spirit of the fair alive in any way possible.

Thanks to technology, several beloved traditions continued virtually! 💻✨

🐄 Don’t miss the King County Junior Dairy Show at the King County Fair!

✨ New this year: Pee-Wee Showmanship! Come cheer on our youngest exhibitors (ages 5–7) as they take the ring on Thursday, July 16 at 3 PM.

The Junior Dairy Show follows on Friday, July 17 at 1 PM, featuring Fitting and Showmanship classes for youth ages 8–19 exhibiting dairy heifers and cows.

Come support these hardworking young farmers and enjoy some friendly competition! 🏆

2019 — Rene Popke was appointed as Fair Manager, while Scott Gray stayed on as a board member!

Fair attendance grew back to over 30K, and the King County Junior Livestock Show returned!

Fun fact: Rene’s first job was at the King County Fair in the late ’80s, peeling potatoes. 🥔

Back to our Roots 🌱 TBT Series

In 2010 Kristen Demazio was appointed Fair Manager, the Fair Bear is announced as the new fair mascot 🐻 and the 2010 theme was Celebrate Homegrown 🌱

The fair went through a bit of a decline from 2012 to 2014, and the City decided to put the management of the fair and the event grounds out to bid.

In 2015 the City of Enumclaw offered a lease agreement to the non-profit organization- Enumclaw Expo and Events Association under the new leadership of Scott Gray who became the manager of both the Enumclaw Expo Center and the King County Fair! 🎡🤠
