The Class of 1966 is in the planning stages for our 50th Class Reunion. Sixty-one years ago, the Class of 1966 began First Grade. Twelve years later—and 49 years ago—the Class of 1966 stood on the stage in the old Enderlin High School gymnasium and received our high school diplomas. Next year will be the 50th Class Reunion for that Class of 1966.
Fifty years!!! The time has gone too quickly. In that time we have started our lives and our careers. We have watched history unfold before our eyes, sometimes from a front row seat. We have grown up and witnessed space exploration, wars, recessions, and a technology revolution. We have found and sometimes lost love, had successes and sometimes some failures, begun families, watched our children and now our grandchildren grow up, traveled far from Enderlin or stayed near to our old hometown, and are now are at an age where we can begin entering into retirement. Some of us, sadly, have passed away. Some of us have had tremendous successes in our lives. Some of us have stayed close to our longtime friends and classmates. And some of us have lost track of those childhood friends and classmates through the years.
But now we are on the eve of celebrating our 50th Class Reunion and we have another chance to reunite one more time, share our stories, and share our memories with the people with whom we spent so much time while we grew from children into adults.
Last weekend, Roberta (Lindemann) Lucio, Stan Bjornstad, Vern Lindemann, and I—with a little moral support from Gary Lindemann, who was involved with the Sunflower Days Car Show at the same time as our meeting—got together to begin planning for our 50th Class Reunion. We agreed that one of the first steps would be to gather together all of the email addresses so we could communicate with our classmates. I have attached a list of classmates, together with their contact information, to this email. A big shout out to Roberta because Roberta gathered and prepared that information. She also did a lot of other groundwork to make this 50th Class Reunion for the Enderlin High School Class of 1966. Feel free to use the email list to reconnect with your classmates, to make plans for the Reunion, and to share information.
We have also constructed a page entitled “EHS Class of 1966” and would invite all of you to “Like” and join our group. Do not hesitate to ask other classmates, friends, and teachers to join, either.
Roberta is also preparing an email letter which will be sent out to you shortly which outlines some of the ideas which we came up with for our 50th Class Reunion. Some of the ideas we bounced around was for a Class of 1966 float for the 125th celebration parade for the founding of Enderlin, which will be occurring at the same time as our class reunion; a biographical book of all of our classmates; and possibly even creating a scholarship and/or gift in the name of the Class of 1966. And, just to warn you in advance, we will also be asking for donations to fund these activities.
We would also invite you to contribute your ideas, skills, and abilities to our endeavors because we want everyone—those who were part of our class for the entire 12 years, those who were a part of our class for a few years, and those who are friends and family of our classmates—to be a part of this 50th Class Reunion.
You are all a wonderfully talented and accomplished group, and I am sure you will make this class reunion the biggest and the best class reunion that Enderlin has ever seen.
