Welcoming our next artist: Jeff Hamilton!

Jeff Hamilton is one of jazz’s most respected and in-demand drummers, known for his originality, drive, and musical sensitivity. Born in Richmond, Indiana, he studied at Indiana University and was influenced by legends such as Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Mel Lewis, and Shelly Manne. Hamilton rose to prominence performing with the New Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman and the Thundering Herd, and later as a member of the L.A.4. with Ray Brown, Bud Shank, and Laurindo Almeida. He went on to perform with icons including Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, and Diana Krall, and has appeared on more than 300 recordings.
A longtime bandleader, Hamilton leads the Jeff Hamilton Trio and co-leads the Clayton–Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, whose recording LA Treasures received a GRAMMY nomination. A four-time winner of Modern Drummer’s Readers’ Poll, Hamilton continues to tour and record internationally.

Welcoming our next guest artist: Jon Hamar!
Jon Hamar is a versatile bassist known for his tasteful, distinctive voice and more than two decades of work across jazz and classical settings. Born and raised in Kennewick, Washington, he began playing bass at age 11 and grew up in a musical family. Hamar earned degrees from Eastern Washington University and the Eastman School of Music, and has performed with artists such as Ernestine Anderson, Benny Golson, the Jeff Hamilton Trio, and the Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, touring nationally and internationally.
An accomplished educator, Hamar is Assistant Professor of Bass at the Natalie L. Haslam School of Music at the University of Tennessee and a longtime faculty member of the Centrum Jazz Workshop.

Welcoming our next guest artist: Ulysses Owens Jr.!

Three-time GRAMMY Award–winning drummer Ulysses Owens Jr. is recognized by The New York Times as “a drummer who takes a back seat to no one” and “a musician who balances excitement gracefully and shines with innovation.” A performer, producer, author, and educator, Owens continues to push boundaries within the jazz world and beyond.
Owens has released eight albums as a bandleader and has appeared on multiple GRAMMY Award–winning recordings, including albums by Kurt Elling and the Christian McBride Big Band. His eighth album, A New Beat, reached #1 on the JazzWeek Radio Charts and earned recognition from DownBeat and Jazziz. An accomplished educator, Owens has served on the jazz faculty at The Juilliard School, is the inaugural Jazz Drum Instructor for Drumeo, and is the Artistic Director of the nonprofit Don’t Miss a Beat, empowering youth through music and civic engagement.
