Annual Ellicott City Labor Day 10K & 5K

What a great day last Saturday for our 22nd Annual Ellicott City Labor Day 10K & 5K held at the Shrine of St. Anthony in Ellicott City, MD. Nearly 300 participants in 10K, 5K, kids runners and walkers took part in our annual event raising funds for local charities. We thank all our sponsors, but especially those onsite like Chick-Fil-A, Mission BBQ, Wendy’s, State Farm Insurance - Emily Kendall, Jentle Spaces and Varsity Graphics. We also thank the Shrine for allowing us to use their property for staging this event, the Howard County Police for their assistance and who allow us to use the County roads, Howard County Fire & Rescue, the Columbia Amateur Radio Association and all our countless volunteers. Congrats to all our winners including the overall and age group winners. Results are posted at www.bullseyerunning.com. We look forward to seeing you all next year.

Hey everyone. Our race is just over a week away. Beat the final price increase on 8/24 and register today for our 21st annual event. There are plenty of reasons to sign up now including the extended weather outlook is looking promising and performance race T-shirts are still available… In addition, we have also secured both Chick-Fil-A and Mission BBQ (as we did last year), who are providing food in addition to breakfast refreshments we are providing.

Race day for the 21st Annual Ellicott City Labor Day 10K & 5K scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at 8:00 a.m.

Register for only $35 per person or $105 for a family of 4 through Aug. 23rd.

Lots of activities are planned to include music, a moonbounce, and random prize giveaways. We will have chip timing and both the 10K course and the 5K course are certified through USATF.org and they are available on our website.

We are also awarding $600 in cash prizes for the top 3 males/females in both races and noncash awards to the top 3 in 7 age group categories (male/female) in both races. That’s 84 age group awards!

The U.S. News high school rankings are out and here is how the Howard County schools rank. They are pretty good; and, as most are aware, schools are the number one consideration when families are moving. Among the 210 ranked schools in Maryland in the 2024 Best High Schools list released by U.S. News, 16 are in the top 5 percent nationally.

It was great to visit our fellow member, Don Farabaugh, of our Knights of Columbus council #11898 at Charlestown senior community yesterday to spend some time at lunch. My fellow brothers Johnny Young, Dave Stephan and Charles Roswell were all there. We laughed and talked about some great memories over the years. We gave Don a certificate and a picture collage of him over the years singing the National Anthem at our annual 10K & 5K races. I also found out yesterday that he served in the Marines… He serves as a great inspiration to all.

Sorry that I haven't been posting. I hope that some of you have already registered for our 20th annual event.
We wanted to give 3 quick updates: We have pushed back the final price increase until Aug. 26th, race performance T-shirts, although not guaranteed, are still available on a first come, first serve basis, and in addition to Mission BBQ providing sliders as stated below, Chick-Fil-A will also be on site with Chicken Biscuits. Register for $30 per person or $65 for a family of 4 through August 25th before the final price increase.

​Also, we want to mention that Mission BBQ will be providing sliders at our event. What a great way to start the Labor Day Holiday weekend by running our 10K or 5K and participating in a community event.

20th Annual Ellicott City Labor Day 10K & 5K

Nice to see these types of programs from my former employer out there to help helping those with housing counseling needs, including 13 Housing Counseling organizations in Maryland and one in Howard County.

This grant funding will go to 180 housing counseling organizations to help continue the important work that began in 2021 to reach deeper into underserved communities.
