Benny Benny Benny!.... Here is the banjo legend giving a rundown on his class for Old-Time Retreat later this month.

More about Benny Bleu Haravich:
Benny plays old time banjo in the Finger Lakes of upstate New York – a land defined by deep lake valleys and steep highlands. The topography is reflected in the local fiddle tradition, and Benny’s banjo rolls along having studied and played with regional old-time visionaries Mac Benford, Richie Stearns, Judy Hyman, and Bruce Molsky. As a former geologist, his songwriting is earth-focused and inspired by the natural world. Benny’s performances are soothing journeys through tunes from his homeland, old songs learned by growing up next to a jug-bandleader, and original modern folk contemplations.

The fall is here and soon we're going to be at the October-Old Time Retreat in Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, October 21–25, 2026. Picking, jamming and hanging out with each other. Hikes in the mountains, train and bike rides as well as musical packed schedule, it's going to be a life long memory making time. Hope you join us as there's only a few spaces left!

Get ready to pick and strum the mandolin and more with Marla Fibish! Looking forward for here to be a part of Irish Retreat 2026.

One of the prominent voices of the mandolin in Irish music, Marla brings a deep and distinctive sensibility to the tradition on one of its lesser-heard instruments. Marla also plays mandola and tenor guitar, and dabbles at the button accordion. She sings and composes music as well — musical settings of works from a variety of poets, as well as original tunes written in traditional forms. This work is featured in the duo Noctambule, her longtime collaboration with guitarist and husband Bruce Victor. Together, they have released 4 albums, most recently Every Migrant is My Fellow in 2021.

Learning to play the hammer dulcimer with Mary-Grace is going to be awesome!

In August 2025, Mary-Grace placed 3rd at the All-Ireland Fleadh in the over 18 Miscellaneous Instrument category, which is the highest level of competition for traditional Irish music. She has performed and instructed at multiple Celtic Festivals including the Nutmeg Valley Dulcimer Festival and Folk College. Her music has been featured in magazines and acclaimed music podcasts including Treoir Magazine, Fire Draw Near, Thunder on the Plains, Dulcimer Players News, and Irish Music Magazine. Mary-Grace’s additional musical endeavors include her Celtic Folk sibling band, Seasons, and her duo, Concerning Clare.
