πŸŽ‰ Announcing the 2026 Elk Rapids Harbor Days Parade Grand Marshal: Village Market, in honor of Rick Young! πŸŽ‰

For more than five decades, Village Market has been a cornerstone of the Elk Rapids, Michigan, community. Founded as a small local grocery store, the business was purchased in 1974 by Rick Young from previous owner Don Pazolo. Through Rick’s vision, hard work and dedication to customer service, Village Market grew into much more than a grocery storeβ€”it evolved into a modern, family-owned-and-operated grocery store and gas station that continues to serve residents with fresh products, friendly service and a deep commitment to the community.

Rick was known not only for his commitment to the business but also for his generosity, community spirit and deep pride in Elk Rapids. Alongside his family, he helped build a business rooted in service, relationships and giving back to the community that has supported it for generations.

Today, under the leadership of owner and general manager Kevin Young, the business operates two locations and employs more than 100 full- and part-time team members year-round. With winter renovations now complete, the store is refreshed and ready for the season ahead.

β€œWe are excited for a busy summer,” Kevin Young said. β€œOur family is proud to be part of this community and grateful for the continued support of our loyal customers.”

As the 2026 Elk Rapids Harbor Days Parade Grand Marshal, Village Market is being honored in recognition of the Young family’s 52 years of service and the lasting legacy Rick created in the Elk Rapids community.

Congratulations to Pamela Pearce, creator of this year’s button design!

"I am honored and blessed to represent Elk Rapids Harbor Days with my button design for this year’s celebration," Pamela says. "I have two wonderful children who attended and graduated from Elk Rapids High School. They experienced many Harbor Days celebrations, which we still enjoy. I was involved with the Miss Elk Rapids Scholarship Program for many years and am currently a member of the Elk Rapids Lions Club. Being able to serve the community is an honor."
