🌟 De Niro: A Dressage Legend Who Shaped Generations 🐎

Few horses have left as profound a mark on the world of dressage as De Niro. Known for his exceptional talent, elegance, and powerful presence, De Niro became one of the most influential stallions in modern equestrian sport.

🐴 Early Talent & Competitive Success

From an early age, De Niro showed extraordinary promise. By just seven years old, he was already competing at Grand Prix level — a rare and impressive achievement. His competitive career included major wins on the international stage, showcasing his natural ability, balance, and expressive movement.

🧬 A Breeding Powerhouse

While his own performances were remarkable, De Niro’s greatest legacy lies in his impact as a sire. As the son of the legendary Donnerhall, he carried forward a world-class bloodline and elevated it even further.

De Niro became one of the most dominant dressage sires globally, consistently producing offspring that excelled at the highest levels of competition. His progeny have competed in Olympic Games, World Championships, and top international arenas, earning medals and recognition across the globe.

🌍 Lasting Influence

What set De Niro apart was his ability to pass on rideability, strength, and expressive movement to his offspring. Breeders valued him not just for performance, but for reliability — generation after generation.

Today, his influence continues through countless descendants who carry his genetics into the future of dressage.

✨ A True Icon of the Sport

De Niro wasn’t just a successful horse — he was a cornerstone of modern dressage breeding. His legacy lives on in the arenas, in the bloodlines, and in the continued evolution of the sport.

Please help us welcome Gardy Bloemers to our Board of Directors!

Born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Gardy Bloemers brings a lifetime of global experience and a deep passion for horses to her role on the Board of Directors of The Dressage Foundation. She earned her B.A. from Tufts University, where she was a member of the Equestrian Club, and later received her MBA from Erasmus University’s Rotterdam School of Management.

Gardy began her career in Europe and went on to hold leadership roles in financial services with business management responsibilities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa before returning to the United States. She now leads a boutique wealth management practice at Merrill Lynch, where she and her team serve multi-generational families, private business owners and their management teams, and professionals who value thoughtful, collaborative financial guidance.

A lifelong equestrian, Gardy’s love for horses began with ponies and has taken her across disciplines and continents. She has foxhunted, show jumped, and trail ridden around the world—including a memorable camel ride by the pyramids in Egypt. Her love for dressage began while living in London, when she had the opportunity to ride The Frenchman, a retired World Equestrian Games Bronze Medalist eventer.

An active dressage competitor, Gardy divides her time between Virginia and Wellington, Florida. She is the most recent past President of the Virginia Horse Center Foundation and founder of the Mid-Atlantic Dressage Festival.

Gardy shared, “I joined The Dressage Foundation Board to turn my passion for dressage into impact. The organization’s excellent leadership and structure made it an easy choice, as together with both staff and the Board, I will help support riders, education, and programs that improve every aspect of the sport nationwide.”

TDF President, Beth Baumert, said, “Gardy has been committed to the mission of The Dressage Foundation for years, and she has always been generous with her creative ideas and her entrepreneurial spirit. We’re very happy to finally welcome her to the table as a member of the TDF Board of Directors.”
