This is a newer convention that takes place at my old high school, the newly remodeled Maine West in Des Plaines. I went last year and, from my point of view, it was very well organized. Check it out!

Hey, Comic Book Mania 2025 is less than two weeks away! Check out our flyer below for all the fun activities. This year, CBM is serving as the Summer Reading Program Final Event, so a lot of the kids who finished that program will be in attendance. One of the prizes finishers earned is a free comic book from Keith's Komix in Artists Alley, so we expect the Alley will be busy. Hey, Comic Book Mania Convention is less than a month away. To give you a little preview of what is to come, we have scheduled a special program leading up to the big day on August 2. Artists Alley participants Russell Lissau and Steve Horton will be hosting Sound & Vision: A Rock & Roll Comic Book Panel at Gail Borden Library on Wednesday night, July 23 at 7 pm. Learn about the relationships between musical artists and comics! You can also familiarize yourself with the library, and pick up at Comic Book Mania flyer which includes all the details about the upcoming show. Hope to see you there!

Registration is now open for the 16th annual Comic Book Mania Convention! As always, the show will be held at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Avenue, Elgin, IL. The date is Saturday, August 2. Please follow the link to this year's registration form. (Yes, if you have registered in the past, you do have to register again; the library starts with a clean slate every year.)
When this show first started in 2010, it was in conjunction with the library's summer reading program; as the event grew in popularity, it branched off into a standalone activity. This year, the library has decided to use CBM as part of the summer reading program final event, which is a reward for all of the kids who finish their summer reading. There will be some other changes, but I expect Artists Alley to remain the same.
Please remember that registering does not guarantee you a table (tables are free for this event as always). We strive for a mix of fresh and familiar faces, to keep the show feeling new for our patrons. Without fail, we always have cancellations, so don't be afraid to check "yes" to give us permission to put you on a waiting list if need be.
I will be meeting next week with the CBM planning committee to see what they are thinking about for this year; I will be sure to keep you informed. In the meantime, here is the link to register. Here we go again!
