A note from Fish & Game - Johna Murff – May 2026
A Message to Property Owners –
As we are well into the 2026 hunting and fishing seasons, and our budgets for the year have been approved, I wanted to get your input regarding our association. Our area offers excellent opportunities for hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors, and we would love to hear ideas and feedback from property owners regarding future improvements and activities related to our lakes, fishing, wildlife, and outdoor recreation.
Most importantly, we want to make this association what YOU, the property owners, want it to be. Your ideas, opinions, and involvement matter, and community feedback will help guide future decisions and improvements.
My budget is limited, but my goal is to do things in stages.
In 2025, we completed a lake survey to determine what fish species we currently have, evaluate the condition of the lake, and receive recommendations on what improvements may help the lake long-term.
Some property owners said that they wanted to keep the lake cleaner and avoid muddying it up in order to maintain good swimming conditions. Others expressed interest in improving the fishing opportunities, increasing fish populations, and creating a lake capable of producing more and better fish.
Personally, I would like to find a happy medium that helps balance both goals — maintaining a clean and enjoyable lake while also improving fishing opportunities for property owners and families.
Some ideas that have been discussed or suggested including:
Stocking the lake with additional fish species
Fall fish stocking programs
Adding one or more automatic fish feeders
Adding habitat (artificial or natural) so smaller fish have a place to hide and grow
Fish species recommendations (bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, etc.)
Lake management and conservation ideas
Community Input Requested
Please let us know your thoughts on the following:
1. What fish species would you like to see stocked in the lake?
2. Would you support adding one or more fish feeders around the lake?
Additional thoughts:
3. What improvements or ideas would you like to see regarding hunting or fishing within ICHPOA?
