To say that I am extremely proud of these young women is an understatement.

To step on a stage and confidently show vulnerability and grace is an accomplishment in its own right. But each of the women on stage this weekend did something even greater; they showed themselves that they can.

They can set a goal and put in the time and effort to reach it.

They can step out of their comfort zone.

They can be successful no matter the outcome because success lies in trying and doing so while remaining true to yourself.

The makeup, hair, gowns and crowns are accessories along the journey but should never be the goal.

Madison, Ryleigh and Kennedy: To watch your growth from the first time we met to this moment is an honor. And no matter where you go in life, or what you do, (whether it includes pageantry or not), I will always cheer you on.

At the end of the day, it’s never about the applause, the awards, the judges scores or my opinion that matters; it’s about the growth you experience, the fun you have and friendships you build.
