1. $40 Entry fee. 8-10 lbs Pork Butt will be provided. You can pick up on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Orchard Inn, Effingham after 6:00 p.m. or make arrangement with event organizers.
2. All cooking must be done at The Orchard Inn, Effingham, Illinois. One 10x10 booth space, per team at 6:00 a.m. on September 10, 2022. Space is on a first come first serve basis.
3. Cooking MAY NOT begin prior to 6:00 a.m. on the day of the cookoff.
4. NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL will be permitted.
5. Containers will be provided for the blind judging. Judging of Pork Butt at 5:00 p.m., ribs at 3:00 p.m., and chicken at 1:00 p.m. Blind judging will be based on taste and appearance.
6. Blind Judging for Pork Butt will pay the following minimums:
i. 1st place - $100.00
ii. 2nd place - $75.00
iii. 3rd place - $50.00
iv. 4th place – $25.00
7. A baby back rib class and Chicken class has been added again this year. It will be a blind judging only by separate judges for each category. $10.00 entry fee and grillers will need to provide own meat for 5 judges. Prize money determined by the number of entries.
8. People’s Choice Award will be based on the total number of votes for each team. The Public may vote for their choice by “donating” money at each team table. $1.00 = 1 vote. All votes are to be turned in by 5:30 p.m. Team with the most votes wins.
9. A mandatory cooks meeting will be held September 10, 2022 at approximately 9:00 a.m.
10. Any Electricity needs is up to each team to arrange with the Orchard.
