Few musicians had the influence that Kavinsky had on the modern synth genre. Another legend gone far too soon.
He was obviously far more than just the song "Nightcall," but that song playing at the beginning of the movie "Drive" in 2011 inspired some of the best artists working in the genre today.
When Kavinsky performed "Nightcall" at the closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympics in 2024, it set a record for the most Shazam'd song in a single day. We hope that meant that he was being introduced to a whole new generation around the world and we hope he continues to inspire them the way he inspired the ones who came before.
