Matrix DanceSport Matrix Dancesport (formerly Iowa Dancesport Classic) is taking on a new look and new location this year.

We are holding our event for the first time since 2019 and ready to get on the floor and dance with you! The Iowa DanceSport Classic is a Ballroom and Latin dance event held in Cedar Rapids, IA on April 1st - 2nd, 2017.

🚨🚨 Spectators enter for free during the day on Saturday 🚨🚨

Advanced tickets for the OK Ball are $15 $20 at the door. If you’re worried about missing the Thunder, worry no more we will have the game on in the ballroom with our 12 foot screen. The bar will be open and we expect you to be screaming for the hometown team.

There’s a first time for everybody on the dance floor and we’re trying to make that the most fun engaging and positive experience for all of our competitors.

There’s a lot of little things that go on getting ready for your first competition that a lot of people don’t think about just the logistical things about how to know when your first heat will be, what’s an on deck area, what’s an invigilator, where do I get my results, where do I change, am I supposed to cheer for other people? When do we eat?

Once you get the hang of it, it’s like riding a bike

A bike that is going down a steep incline with lots of scree, but a bike nonetheless. Meaning, it’s never easy doing something where you step out of your comfort zone but once you’ve done it a few times it gets easier and you get even more out of the experience.

Okay, that's not exactly true. The dancing has stopped, occasionally, I mean, this is not a dance marathon after all.

But I'm just saying dancing at the OKC Farmers Public Market is a tradition that goes back about a hundred years.

What they've done in revitalizing this building is terrific because they keep the charm of the original structure, but they've gotten it freshened up for 2026. We are excited to share with you how we are going to jazz it up for our event.

Is it true that nobody reads captions well too bad they’ll be missing out on a chance for a word of affirmation, but hopefully the image can stand for itself

And it’s completely true you’ve spent all that time in the studio getting yourself ready to do something with your dancing and now it’s time to put it out on the floor. It’s not because we’re trying to beat anybody at the competition, but we’re using that experience to be the best version of ourselves.
