Final Results - Vertical Mile Half Marathon: Alyssa Clark and Jeffrey Stern take first!

Special thank you to Maria Finkle and the Finkle team for helping make these races possible.

We all know this race was a beast with over 40 attempts and only 27 successful finishers. Congratulations to everyone that finished and great effort to all that took a shot at the Vertical Mile Half Marathon.

And now...THE TOP 3’s: Alyssa and Jeffrey both dominated again on big climbs after also taking first on The Garrapata Climb. Less than ten minutes behind Zuzana and Alan, who are both no strangers to Race the Commons leaderboards, threw down impressive times. In third, we had two runners that have not placed before. David Sadowski blasted the course with incredible downhills to take third. And last but not least, Linda Sereno took residence on the course with more completions than any other runner and grabbed third place. Way to go Linda!

I loved reading the race summaries on Instagram and Strava. Here are a few of my favorites (couldn’t include them all):

“When you crest that climb out of Garza’s Canyon and hit Snivley’s Ridge for the final downhill ... there’s another uphill loop remaining to crush whatever’s left of your soul! You’ll love it.”
~ Rob Boyce~

“Brutal. But done.”
~ Emily Cole~

“The virtual Race the Commons vertical half marathon in Garland ranch took me three tries to sort out. I went off course, missed turns and thought I was going to puke on several of the climbs. I used to use all of those as reasons why it wasn’t my time to succeed or give up and take the excuse. But now I see those moments as chances to dig in more, to use adaptability and mental fortitude to ride the mistakes and stay in the moment. It doesn’t hurt less, it just hurts right.”
~Alyssa Clark

Special thank you to all who registered and helped support the Elkhorn Slough Foundation.
