๐จ SCAM ALERT: Vendor Fraud ๐จ
The East Brunswick Police Department is warning vendors and businesses about an ongoing fraud scheme targeting individuals interested in participating in the Middlesex County Fair.
Scammers are posing as representatives of the Middlesex County Fair and sending fraudulent emails requesting vendor registration payments. These emails may direct recipients to pay using Zelle, Venmo, credit cards, or other unauthorized payment methods.
According to the Middlesex County Fair Association, legitimate vendor payments are accepted only by ACH, check, or cash. Any request for payment through Zelle, Venmo, credit card, or similar methods should be considered suspicious and disregarded.
โ ๏ธ Do NOT click on links contained in unsolicited vendor solicitation emails.
Because many of the targeted vendors may not have previously participated in the fair, there is no established contact list to warn all potential victims. We encourage everyone to share this alert with vendors, crafters, exhibitors, food concessionaires, entertainers, and small business owners, regardless of their location.
If you receive a solicitation and are unsure whether it is legitimate, contact the Middlesex County Fair directly before providing any personal information or sending payment.
