My 2024 Top 10 Images of the Year— #3 “Frozen Flame” I captured last January at Eternal Flame Falls in Orchard Park, NY south of Buffalo. I went there in the hours after a major lake effect snowstorm slammed the area. I got there at first light, managed my way carefully into the gorge and stream and there it was—the beautiful natural gas flame glowing amidst the snow and ice. This is one of just nine natural eternal flames in the world. A horizontal capture of this is my cover photo for my 2025 calendar. I wanted to see this spectacle once in these conditions—it was surreal and spectacular!

"Marisol: A Retrospective" is almost here! Encompassing nearly 250 objects, including archival content and ephemera, the exhibition will unfold over roughly 9,500 square feet, with materials grouped into six thematic sections tracing Marisol’s career as it developed from the 1950s to the early 2000s. "Marisol: A Retrospective," opening on Friday, July 12, in the Gundlach Building, offers an extraordinary experience of the breadth of her groundbreaking practice, her complex subjectivity, as well as her powerful creative agency.
