Today we remember the life of Baba Chuck Davis.

We didn't know that morning, God was going to call your name, in life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, this day that God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you're always at our sides.

"AADE" WAS The driving force? "Games" (1951) was McKayle's first major ensemble work. The success of this 1986 pilot led to a major three-year Ford Foundation grant in 1987, allowing the "Black Traditions" project to expand into a national tour and further revivals of McKayle's other works...
