We had a pretty simple goal back in 2010: Bring Michael Franti & Spearhead to the Twin Ports to connect people and celebrate our community in an event that employs our beautiful Bayfront Festival Park. (Hard to believe now that It wasn't seeing much action at the time!) Looking back, it's pretty amazing how it worked out. The 5-year history is quite a story, and we plan to share the details on the web site sometime after June.
As many of you probably assumed, my (Shane) role with Grandma's Marathon doesn't allow the time to plan another summer event, and we're going to close the Bridge Festival book the same way we started - by posting the news with the latest video from Michael!
If you or someone you know has the experience and energy to put together a September celebration of our people and this place, I would be happy to help out, share all the details, or turn over the keys anytime down the road. Regardless of the Bridge Festival's future, we know we'll be seeing you at Bayfront - as it's busy every weekend now! And you can catch MF&S at the Big Top Chautauqua again this summer!
Thank you all so much for your support since 2011! For fighting the stigma around mental illness, raising money for flood victims, building awareness around our greatest resource, and supporting local farming. And to so many nonprofits and contributors - far too many to name. Keep it up. The world needs you. We're proud to live in the same place as you all and we hope to see you along our Superior shore again soon!
