đź’śWatching someone you love go through abuse is painful. You may want to fix it. Protect them. Rescue them.
But the most powerful thing you can do… is show up with compassion.

Here’s how to truly support them:

✨ Create Safety, Not Pressure
Choose a private moment. Let them talk at their pace. Remind them they are not alone.

✨ Lead With Concern, Not Commands
Instead of “You need to leave,” try:
“I care about you and I’m here for you.”

✨ Focus on Their Safety
Keep the conversation centered on their well-being, not your anger toward the abuser.

✨ Share Resources Gently
Offer options like the National Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-799-SAFE) but let them decide when and how to use them.

✨ Stay Consistent
Leaving is complex. Healing takes time. Your steady presence matters more than you know.
And remember… supporting someone through trauma can be heavy. Make sure you have support too. You deserve care as well.
Your love could be the reminder they need that freedom is possible.

🚨If you or someone you know needs help, reach out.
ASAP is here to empower, uplift, and stand beside survivors.
