Meet Rubicelia Prieto, the founder and artist behind La Calaca Blanca, whose incredible large-scale paper-mâché Catrina sculptures bring the spirit of Día de Los Mu***os to life.

A self-taught artist, Rubicelia has dedicated the past decade to preserving and celebrating Mexican culture through immersive works of art. Her striking Catrinas are inspired by the traditions of Día de los Mu***os and invite us to celebrate the beauty, creativity, and stories woven into this beloved cultural tradition.

This year, we’re thrilled to welcome Rubicelia and her artwork to the 13th Annual Downey Día de Los Mu***os Art Festival!

Come see her work in person and experience the incredible artistry behind these larger-than-life Catrinas.
