The first of a few new Toyota Hiace campervans with a 4WD Fibreglass roof fitted and certified is complete while more roofs await fitting. In the meantime, an opportunity allows a catch up on preparing the Land Rover Defender 110 roof bracing for molding. The roof side was Molded about 6 or so years ago. Once done, the original roof can be returned to Mamaku 4WD. Preparation involves taping all edges where gelcoat and resin can seep between metal layers. The VW Beetle body hangs from the gantry and allows us to assess work to be done on preparing the inner fender wells for future molding. A friend dropped in some Jeep JK fender flares to mold, so we can make a set of 2” wider flare molds. The Jeep AEV Brute rear bed stands awaiting modification for shortening (bobbing) the bed by removing a 420mm section from between the tailgate and fender well. We’ll be busy until 1 June when I return to Arizona for more body and panel molding and production.
