It's that time of year again! I just got lists from 3 Assisted Livings and I'm needing extra help! If you would like to adopt a Senior for Christmas, please message me. Please include how many people you would like to adopt and if you prefer male or female.
Welcome to the 2nd annual Santa For A Senior for Assisted Livings and Nursing Homes in Montezuma County.
We are looking for individuals, families, or groups that would be interested in 'adopting' a grandparent for Christmas.
I own Golden Years Retirement Home II, an Assisted Living in Dolores. We have some Seniors who don't have family, so we're trying to find people that would like to 'adopt' a Senior for Christmas. I've discovered it's common for people in homes not to have family, so I'd like to create 'Christmas' for someone who may not have anyone.
We provide meals and housing, so that's taken care of. I partnered with 3 Assisted Livings and a Nursing Home last year to provide Christmas for over 50 Seniors in Montezuma County! Without community support, it wouldn't have been possible. I can't count all the volunteers that donated to make this possible. I can't thank everyone enough for the time, money, and heart put into the gifts, pictures, letters, and people stopping by.
What can you do? It doesn't take much. Do you have kids that could make some artwork? Are you crafty? Could you afford a few things from the dollar store? Have you received an unexpected blessing you'd like to pass on?
If you answered yes to any of those questions please pm me and I can give you the age, gender, and some things an individual might like/need. Because of HIPAA I cannot give out individuals names. You can adopt one or as many people as you choose.
Can't afford to buy anything? Not crafty? Do you play an instrument? Sing? Like to read to others, or maybe help with crafts? Message me and we can set up a time to volunteer to do almost anything. The best 'present' is time spent with friends and family. At the least, please help share this post, so we can help as many Seniors as possible.
I'm happy to meet anyone in the Cortez/Dolores area to pick up items. You can also mail them if you'd like, or drop them off at Golden Years Retirement Home II in Dolores. Last year I had a few communication problems, so I'm going to collect everything at Golden Years and distribute to each home all at once.
Some items needed are socks, gloves, scarves, lap blankets, activity books, hygiene items, and snacks. Do you like to bake? The Seniors love home made goodies too!
For drop offs at Golden Years the address is 103 N. 18th Street Dolores, Colorado 81323.
Please message me with any questions. I'm happy to provide proof of ownership, and my business license.
Happy holidays, and a blessed Merry Christmas!
