Nashville, TN -- To say that 2015 has been a big year for 'The Queen of Bluegrass' Rhonda Vincent would be an understatement. She has transcended beyond the All American Bluegrass Girl who stole the nation's heart with her genuine songs and charismatic personality, by expanding her sound globally. W…

Shaun’s Review
Heather and I heard Harpeth Rising at the Tin Pan in Richmond on Friday night. We loved their CD, but were both blow away by their live performance. Many band can play bluegrass and folk music well with average musical talent. However, the girls from Harpeth Rising are all musician of the highest skill. On the CD I assumed they had studio musicians filling in on the drums, and other background instruments and thought live, their music would be a scaled down performance. What we experienced instead was a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. Jordana Greenberg, Rebecca Reed-Lunn, and Maria Di Meglio each played 2-3 instruments at the same time, including foot drums and cowbells and stretched the sounds of their primary instruments in many creative directions. They also compose their own music and write their own lyrics. The style and Jordana’s voice varied widely form song to song and often even within a song spanning, folk, bluegrass, classical, jazz, cabaret, and lounge music, yet somehow the music all flowed together in a rich smokey sound all their own.
We meet them and David Salada, band manager and Jordana’s husband, after the show. Jordana was raised on an organic farm and her eccentric parents sounded like my kind of people. We cannot wait to hear them again on the farm on April 23, 2016 at the Sussex Song, Sausage, and Spirits Festival.
