Dillwyn, Virginia July 20th 2024. We absolutely cannot control the weather. I wish we could. Dragon Motorsports Inc. saw two pulls affected this past weekend with a rain date for Dillwyn for Sunday. So we headed to Dillwyn. It was a healthy crowd for a Sunday.
12,000 Altered Farm class was up first. We need to talk about Hunter Shifflett and Backwoods Binder. This kid from Ruckersville is doing some impressive things. He pulled right even down the inch with Bill Balderson and they went to pull off with those two tractors out of a class of seven. Bill ended up putting 9 feet on Hunter in the pull off. Congrats to Bill on the win in the pull off and we expect more good things from Hunter.
Truck Outfitters Outlaw 4x4 class was up next and there were 11 trucks in that class. Several of these trucks came from the mountains of the west part of Virginia. Several from right here in Buckingham, and several from Lothian. Daryl and Reed Vess made some very encouraging come backs after a serious loss of a family member earlier in the year. They finished 4th and 6th on their runs in their tough Fords. Thomas Alphin and the Danger Ranger had it just about sown up until Mr Truck Outfitter, My Lumpy, Brian Allen, came toward the back of the class found some fresh dirt and took the class going 319.59.
8000 466 Light Pro Stock class came next with only 3 tractors and a few waiting on parts. David Reed came first on Chain smoker made a "Data Learning" run, dropped his hook and came back for more data. Bradley Seal came next on Mother in Law's Nightmare and went 314.63 putting 10 foot on Steve Flint and his other red tractor Headcase.
6200 Sportsman 4x4 came next and brought 12 vehicles to entertain the Dillwyn faithful. Tommy Henley and All Mixed Up came back to the track and seemed to have the class all tied up with a good run of 319.97. If it weren't for Chadvicky Lam and the Virginia Outlaw 2.0 he just picked up in the off season and ran the week prior at Madison. Chad and his crew noticed some things the week after Madison and put in long days to make the pull and the reward was a win going just about 6 inches further than Tommy to take the win at 320.37.
The Super Pro Farm classed showed up well for Sunday too. They brought 7 tough tractors. Dustin Reynolds and Pullin Teeth saw Dustin in the seat this week. Dustin took his tractor and went 319.26 putting 3 and a half feet on the next nearest puller. Following Dustin, the rest of the pack kind of rutted themselves together right around 315 and 314 where Billy Rice and Lights Out finished, and no one was able to break out not for lack of trying. Congrats to this class and Dustin. This week we head to South Boston the home of Billy Rice to duel this out some more.
6200 Small Block 4x4 only saw 4 trucks with a few local trucks still under the knife. Hometown puller Dylan Wood pulled second and went 327.30. That run wouldn't hold up as the last puller Rob Bright and the Ol Rusty Red truck took the class and went 328.97
Street Gas 4x4 trucks were last and there were a handful of them. But Cam Smith and his Chevy took the class. Keith Agee the pull host went a few hooks later and got into the white line a little bit.
Thanks to all the fans and pullers that came out to this wonderful event.
