Detroit lost one of its great musical ambassadors on July 26.
John “Jammin’” Collins was a pioneering DJ, producer, radio host, booking agent, historian, mentor and longtime member of the Underground Resistance and Submerge family.
Beginning in Detroit’s clubs in the late 1970s, John helped shape the city’s electronic music culture through his influential residencies at Cheeks and the Warehouse, his work at WJLB and WDRQ, and his decades of support for Detroit artists.
He represented Underground Resistance around the world, guided visitors through Detroit techno history at Exhibit 3000, founded the Detroit Regional Music Conference. He generously shared his knowledge, mentored younger artists and used music to bring people together.
John’s family, friends and the Detroit community will celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy at:

The evening will include DJs, food trucks, special presentations, memories, fellowship and music.
The celebration is free and open to the public. Donations are welcomed but not required. Capacity is limited, and admission will be first come, first served.
