Southwest Holiday Fest Detroit

Southwest Holiday Fest Detroit Local organizations and businesses participated with lots of friends and neighbors attending and everyone enjoying their time at the event.

Despite a terrible snowstorm during the winter of 2013, the Annual Southwest Holiday Fest began out of a need for Matrix Theatre’s wanting to do something different to promote the local community. As it was so well received, it was decided to continue it every year after that. Although COVID did interrupt the streak, the Southwest Detroit Holiday Fest continues annually, on the second Saturday of

December, to bring the Christmas Spirit to Life in the Heart of Southwest Detroit's Mexicantown and Hubbard Richard Neighborhoods.

It’s today! It’s today! Behind the scenes with Greening of Detroit as they prepare the wreaths they’re donating to Southwest Holiday Fest. So much care, creativity, and joy goes into every piece. These handmade wreaths will be raffled today during the festival. Don’t miss it!

Southwest Holiday Fest returns to Mexicantown with a full day of activities for families and neighbors. The schedule includes carriage rides, live music, art workshops, puppet shows, a clothing swap, holiday treats, the Posada, and the annual tree lighting. All events are free and open to the community from 1 to 8pm along the Bagley and Vernor corridor.

El Southwest Holiday Fest regresa a Mexicantown con un día completo de actividades para familias y vecinos. El programa incluye paseos en carruaje, música en vivo, talleres de arte, teatro de títeres, intercambio de ropa, antojitos navideños, la Posada y el encendido del árbol. Todos los eventos son gratuitos y abiertos a la comunidad de 1 a 8pm en el corredor de Bagley y Vernor.

Greening of Detroit is joining Southwest Holiday Fest with a special raffle. Five handmade wreaths will be given away this Saturday during the festival. Visit us for your chance to win and bring home a piece of the season.

Disfruta una tarde de teatro en Matrix Theatre Company.

Habrá dos funciones de “Snow Business like Snow Business, A Modern Punch Tale” a las 2 y 4pm, presentadas por Flying Cardboard Theatre.

A las 3pm, el Matrix Playback Theatre Troupe dará vida a tus propias historias de nieve con una presentación improvisada.
