Each year on Opening Day, we bring Tigers fans back to the site of Old Tiger Stadium for our “Swing For The Fences” event. From young kids stepping into the box for the first time to lifelong fans reliving their memories, everyone gets their chance to take a swing and chase that home run feeling.

Shoutout to Schoolcraft College Baseball for stepping up, helping pitch, field, and keep the day running along.

And the real home run is that every dollar raised goes right back into supporting the kids of Detroit PAL.

26 years ago, Tiger Stadium saw its’ last Opening Day game, closing a chapter in Detroit baseball history.

All the way from Nashville, Tennessee.

Curt and his father Jim made the trip back to where it all began. During the 90’s, when they were living in Michigan, they sat just off the dugout at Old Tiger Stadium, watching their Tigers and building memories that stuck for a lifetime.

When they heard about Swing For The Fences, they didn’t hesitate. They came back to Michigan & Trumbull, back to those same grounds, to relive a piece of their story together.

They stepped onto the field, took their swings, and soaked it all in. Then it was off to Comerica Park for Opening Day, but this time with a deeper appreciation, knowing exactly where their love for the game was rooted.

30 years later, same passion. Same bond. Same Tigers.
