I want to thank our core shared-leadership team of the Q***r & Trans Action Group (QTAG) at First Unitarian Church and the almost 60 church member volunteers, too, who helped make our 6th Annual Central Iowa Trans Lives Festival a great success with over 1100 people attending!

And thank you so much to EVERYONE who showed up to support the festival participants by purchasing their art and crafts, applauding and cheering their performances, offering connections and support, and making the participants feel welcomed and affirmed just by being present.

In a time when transgender, genderq***r, nonbinary, and other gender expansive (TGQNB+) folks are being particularly verbally and physically attacked, scapegoated, and erased, I am so proud to be a part of a church that again came together to offer our fellow humans a day to feel appreciated, celebrated and affirmed for their gifts and creative contributions to our community!
