The holidays are just around the corner! Instead of hitting the Black Friday sales, give gifts with homemade flavor. Don’t miss the Consumable Christmas Gifts class on November 17 in The Kitchen on the Iowa State Fairgrounds with Chef Andrea Love. Participants will learn how to make homemade vanilla paste, flavored syrups (pumpkin spice and apple brown sugar), spice mixes (taco and BBQ) and hot cocoa mix. Each participant will take home recipes, gift-giving ideas and samples to share.

The Swine Barn renovation is under way!🐷 It’s the largest renovation in Fair history.

Fun fact: The south-central section that has been removed was a “temporary” wooden addition built after World War II when steel was not available. Don’t worry. It is finally being rebuilt with steel to match the rest of the barn.

Now that another great Fair is in the books, work has officially begun on renovations to our historic Swine Barn as part of the Back the Barns campaign.

This project is about preserving an important piece of our agricultural heritage while ensuring the barn can continue serving future generations. The improvements will help protect the history and character of this iconic building while providing the functionality needed to host the large livestock shows and agricultural events that are such an important part of our community.
