KRAZY CHICANOS COLORADO CC
We need to continue to build stronger bridges of support for our Carros y Viclas Community and the events that they produce. As a community, they faithfully support Colorado communities on an ongoing basis. They are always ready to help, and they represent one of our best community traditions.

The venue capacity for the Skyline Chapter lends itself to an early sellout, and tickets and tables for the evening concert are moving fast, so get your tickets and tables to the Baile ASAP. Also, as car and bike clubs start announcing their Summer and Fall events, we ask our friends and followers to step in and support them however you can. On the other side, it's very gratifying to see how many of the local car clubs and viclas clubs support each other. Here's a good one. Let's get behind Biggs and the Krazy Chicanos. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

This is a Krazy Chicanos CC event supported by the Feroz Familia CC and others.

MINE IS NOT TO QUESTION WHY, MINE IS BUT TO DO AND DIE
Whatever the circumstances or controversy may be, we have people serving in harm's way and dying. May the fallen rest in peace, and may those in harm's way be taken out of this situation soon and be protected by on high. They don't ask why, they answer the call and follow the orders they are given... right or wrong.

We are then duty-bound to honor and support them, whether or not we agree with their mission. The people who started this war know this and are now playing on the emotions of Americans, pitting some against each other, so that we will look beyond their motives and not ask them why or demand accountability. But asking why and holding people accountable is our responsibility.

That's the best way to honor and support the men and women who have died or are in harm's way. They are our kids, our neighbors, or our neighbors' kids, and that's enough. Tribute to the fallen. https://youtu.be/mUopW-_C3_Q?si=OSucWeb6qxb9P18l

As of March 5th, 1,100 total deaths and 5,000 wounded, including hundreds of children. Those bombs that killed and wounded these people don't care who dropped them, but we should know the truth about the thinking and motives behind why this started to begin with, why they were dropped, and why they are still being dropped. Then there has to be political accountability at home for our dead and wounded.

INITIATIVA DE UNIDAD - A GATHERING OF GENTE
Pachuco CC West Colorado - Chill-N-Grill Event
Saturday, May 30, 2026 - 10 AM for the Duration
Ruby Hill Park, 1200 W Florida Ave, Denver, CO 80223
Message from Brother Tony Ortiz and Pachuco CC West Colorado: "We are having a BBQ, just to have a firme dia. Come join us. Bring your grill, clean up your ranfla, and let's roll. Let's have a good day, and join us in bringing unidad and greater carnalismo between car clubs. Órale! PACHUCO CC WEST COLORADO "

Great event, great effort, but it's what the initiative represents that stands out loudly. The Rocky Mountain Region Carros y Viclas Comunidad is a strong thread in the weave of an area that is a vibrant tapestry of different cultures and traditions. Chicano tradition and history in the area has great texture and an honorable history. The thinking behind this event is representative of the reasons why that is so.

La Familia Denver, including the 5280 Swap Meet, the Pachuco Ball, and the Chicano Old School Reunion, is proud to support this effort, and we encourage our community to take a close look at the meaning and its significance to community unity and growth, and the model that it represents to our young people. More details are coming. Bien echo! Respect.

SELF REDEMPTION
Pamela Hemphill is a 71-year-old former substance abuse counselor from Idaho. She formally rejected a presidential pardon issued by Donald Trump last year for her role in the January 6 Capitol riot. Once known as the "MAGA Granny," she was among nearly 1,600 people granted clemency on Trump’s first day of his second term. She chose to reject the pardon. To this day, in her own words and of her own free will, she maintains that accepting the pardon would have been "an insult to the Capitol Police officers, to the rule of law, and to the country".

She emphasizes that she pleaded guilty because she was truly guilty and did not want to contribute to "gaslighting and false narratives" that rewrite the events of January 6. She describes her former involvement as being in a "cult," and expresses that she wanted to take full responsibility for her actions, and she did. The downside to it all is that after stepping up, she has become a target of the other rioters and members of MAGA. She shares all this in the video. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/14V4d6ZVhog/

CHICANO >>> FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION
Last Thursday night, thanks to my sister, I attended the Su Teatro-Sundance Film Festival screening of the award-winning documentary "American Pachuco - The Legend of Luis Valdez" at the Su Teatro Arts and Culture Center in Denver. By the end of the evening, I learned a lot about Luis Valdez and his brother Daniel Valdez, who were both in attendance, the Valdez familia, and a subjective, as well as factual, overview of Chicano history, which had, for various reasons, escaped me as a younger man.

Luis, himself, is a pioneering playwright and filmmaker and is known to some as the "Father of Chicano theater." To his credits are the movies "La Bamba" and the Pachuco classic "Zoot Suit." What I learned through the evening is that Señor Valdez has evolved into a great teacher. Years of experience in a trench where life imitates art, he made art reflect the hard lessons and experiences of life. Luis Valdez, over many years, has at long last simply become a voice for the human condition and a teacher. That is clearly seen in the video interview that is posted in the comments section below.

The spirit of Chicanismo and cultural pride that filled Su Teatro that night was overwhelming and went straight to the heart as he shared and answered young people's questions during the platica. As we were leaving, I ran into Tony Garcia, and he said to me, "Thanks for coming out."

No, Tony, thank you for what you and Su Teatro bring to our community.

THE FACE OF THE PACHUCO BALL
When Pachucos and Pachucas TOOK their place in American culture, they were known for their distinctive style. Pachucos wore zoot suits—baggy pants, long coats, and wide-brimmed hats—their outfits were accessorized with chains and sharp, polished shoes. Their fashion was bold; it was a symbol of rebellion, cultural pride, and resistance against mainstream norms - all of this against a backdrop, and during a time, of intense racial discrimination against Mexican-Americans. The Pachuco stood as a symbol of defiance, forging a new, proud identity during a time of intense racial discrimination, social, and cultural tension.

Well, look around you today - almost a century later. What do you see? The same old song, different year. This one's for our youngsters. Teach them that they can hold their heads high and walk in pride and dignity, because they can! Tell them to never let anyone look down on them because of their heritage or the color of their skin. Tell them to never forget where they came from or who came before them. It's your story. The silver lining? The beautiful young people at the table, giving of their gifts and abilities. Young, dynamic, beautiful. They are our legacy as a people. They are the face of the Pachuco Ball. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
