HURRICANE MELISSA RECOVERY SUPPORT CONTINUES:
"Just as we did during our response to Hurricane Beryl in 2024, we approached Hurricane Melissa with the same urgency and precision. Our team was on the ground, pre-positioned and ready to deliver immediate aid to those impacted across Jamaica as soon as the storm passed. We remain committed to the country for the long-term recovery and rebuilding phase.
Our mission has always been clear: to deliver the most amount of aid to the most number of people in need, in the shortest amount of time, and at the lowest possible cost to our donors. That same commitment guides every step of our rebuilding efforts.” - Michael Capponi, Founder & President, Global Empowerment Mission/GEM.
The Miami based GEM organization continues its rehabilitation activities inside Jamaica in response to the devastation caused by category 5 hurricane Melissa last October, and recently received a donation of US$2,500 from the proceeds of the PALM BEACH REGGAE Music & Arts Festival staged at Old School Square in Delray Beach, Florida.
"Give thanks to the artists who performed at the festival - Bad Boys of Reggae Inner Circle, The Resolvers, Xperimento and Yvad & Legal Roots, as well as our partners Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority/DDA, and our sponsors Cultural Council For Palm Beach County, for making this possible" - Lloyd Stanbury, Festival Director and President of Stanbury Music & Art Foundation/SMART Foundation.
