It's been over a month since our Future City Music Festival #5 at Deland. I have been thinking about how grateful I am for the many partners that came to help with this event. One parter in particular is Pulse Evangelism. (www.pulse.org).
I had to really access the memory data banks to remember HOW our paths crossed, because they so quickly felt like family it was hard to remember a time without them being part of this event.
Through Daniel Strickland (Without Walls), I met Laurey Carpenter and Leah Miles via a zoom call. It's always a challenge when you meet with other ministries, because you hope your purposes align, but also want to be wise and get to know people before you partner. It was obvious immediately that they wanted to see this event happen and were willing to put their hand to the plow and make it a success. I feel like we became fast friends and I was so glad to have them as partners.
When I began working with Pulse, I was introduced to so many of their team - Alison Lauer, Greg Nightengale (and more) and was challenged by the aspects of the event they were considering. They are calling out so many of my "blindspots" where I had not considered the details of things they wanted to nail down. I realized where I needed to grow as an event director, as I was more accustomed to work out details with the stage, sound and artist side. They were so gracious in helping me with the evangelism end, and considering everything we need to have in place for this to be a success.
When we moved to Deland two weeks before the event, Pulse really came to the rescue. They sponsored the banner across Woodland Blvd and worked with the city to get it up. They flew in staff and of course Nick Hall to be at our event. They setup the "Kids Zone" and worked with get volunteers. They reached out to churches in Volusia County and really helped get the word out.
In our planning they were constantly asking "What can we do?" and "Put us to work!" They added so much to the event and were so gracious.
One special thing that happened, I had some family in town just for the day. They came to the event just before Nick Hall was speaking. There were captivated by Nick's message. They didn't look at their phones, they weren't distracted by others talking and loud motorcycles driving by. It was as special night in so many ways.
So grateful for Pulse Evangelism - Nick Hall, Leah Miles, Laurey Carpenter, Alison, Lauer and the rest of the Pulse team that helped from Minneapolis and flew in to support us.
