The Juneteenth flag was created in 1997 by activist Ben Haith, known as “Boston Ben”, and features symbolism representing the end of slavery and the journey of Black Americans.

Its red, white, and blue colors purposefully mirror the American flag to signify that enslaved people and their descendants are Americans, featuring a central white star that represents Texas and freedom across all 50 states.
