Thanks to the Aerin de Russy, Bailey Craig, Ben Hood and Ryan Brown -- otherwise known as The Yellow Dandies -- for teaching Old-Time folks about Bluegrass, and Bluegrass folks about Old-Time -- and then leading us in a crossover jam! Not only was it fun, but it's a mindset that will help us expand our jams, our genres, and our circle of musical friends. Watch out for more Jon Bekoff programming coming soon!

Join us at Waller’s from 2-4pm on Sunday November 5th with special guest The Yellow Dandies, a fantastic group from Birmingham who play old-time fiddle tunes, bluegrass, and everything in between. The Dandies will demonstrate some of their crossover tunes that bring together the melodies and rhythms of old-time music with some of the improvisation and hot licks that people associate with bluegrass, and then they will lead a workshop to teach participants some of the tricks of their trade. Whether you’re interested in old-time, bluegrass, or both, this workshop and jam will help us find common ground between these deeply related forms of American folk music. Brennan Breed of the Frank Hamilton School will help co-host. All levels and instruments welcome.
