Sue Lombardi was at the Ice Bowl game with her mother. Claims she never got cold. Credited that to an occasional nip of a magical concoction that she got from some tavern owner called "Fiddler"

The man holding the goal post piece was a policeman guarding the Goal Post after the game. He was told to abandon his post by his boss Sheriff Compton.
The Vanderloop brothers( Ken and Ed) standing at both ends, tore down the goal post after the game and chopped up one piece. They then went to Wipp`s Tavern (on Manitowoc Road) and further sawed off two slivers to take home.
Jerry Wipp got the big piece and it resided in his tavern proudly for 40 years.
In 2017 I united the two brothers with the BIG chunk and celebrated the REUNIFICATION of all three parts.

Sara Curtis and her two sons with their Ice Bowl chunk brought back by their father in 1967. This photo was taken in 2005.
Wisconson families tend to hold on to these Packer treasures much like medieval Christians guarded and preserved the relics and bones of their dead saints. This piece has probably already been put into Sara`s will.
