West Music is happy to announce that Steve Braddy will conduct and MC this year's Tuba Christmas at the NorthPark Mall in Davenport on December 13th.

Steve Braddy is a proud and unapologetic tuba player and is currently a 6th grade band director in the Rock Island/Milan school district. This year is Mr. Braddy’s 40th anniversary of playing in bands! He began is band career in 1985 at Hampton Elementary School under the direction of Mr. Mallie Williams. It was here that Mr. Williams made the very important decision to introduce Mr. Braddy to the tuba. The rest is history.

In 1999, Mr. Braddy earned his BME (Bachelor of Music Education) degree from Illinois State University where he studied with tuba legends, “Doc” Ed Livingston and David Zerkel. He received his Master of Arts degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2022. Mr. Braddy began his teaching career in 1999 at Alleman High School and then joined the Rock Island public schools in 2004.

Mr. Braddy is the director of the “Heavenly Ringers” handbell choir at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Moline, IL. He is also a bassist/vocalist in the Quad Cities’ rock group, Panic River Band. Mr. Braddy is married to an amazing wife, has two wonderful children, and he is ready to have a great time at TubaChristmas 2025!

ANNOUNCING!

The Director of the 2024 51st Annual Tuba Christmas in the Quad Cities

ERIC HIPPLE

Eric Hipple is currently the Fine Arts Director for Concordia Lutheran Grade School in Peoria, Illinois. Eric earned his Bachelor of Music Education (BME) degree in 1996 from Concordia University, Chicago and is currently working on earning a Masters of Music in Worship Studies from William Carey University. He has previously taught at both Metro-East Lutheran High School in Edwardsville, IL and Faith Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eric is currently in his 11th year at CLS teaches bands, choirs, classroom music, 7th grade religion, and is the Dean of Chapel. Eric has coordinated and hosted the IL Lutheran Honor Band Festival multiple times from 2013 – 2025. Outside of his teaching duties, Eric is a freelance trumpet player in the greater Peoria area having performed with the Peoria Municipal Band, Peoria Bach Festival orchestra, Sing-It-Yourself Messiah orchestra and the Peoria Brass Choir. He also serves as Scoutmaster for Scouts BSA Troop 155 at CLS. Eric is married to Becky and has three children.

HUGE Thank you to everyone for coming out and celebrating the 50th anniversary with us! This was a BIG tuba Christmas with 120+ participants!

Thank you in particular to Mr. Nick Propes and Jake Walker for making it all run smoothly with record turn out!

Special Thank you to Johnna Moore for paying for all students at the event this year. What a lovely way to remember Al!
