Texas, the CONCACAF women's tournament is coming to Mansfield, so we're making it a soccer week. Kick It 3v3 is Sunday, Nov 29 at the Mansfield Complex for Sports. If your kid is going to watch some of the best women's players in the region that week, why not let them play too? Every team gets at least 4 games, the top three get medals, our referees vote on a sportsmanship award, and every team earns points toward the Kick It 3v3 World Championships in Vail next July. The Super Early Bird is $250 a team for 15 more days, through Nov 16, then it goes to $299. Youth U6 through U19 boys and girls plus men's, women's and coed. Harry Kane won the Ballon d'Or on Monday. On Saturday he stepped up to take a penalty against Dortmund and put it off the crossbar. He hit the post later too. So what did he do about it? Ten minutes after the miss he set up Dayot Upamecano for a goal that put Bayern back in front. Dortmund still got a late equalizer from Fabio Silva in the 89th minute, and it finished 2-2, but that's not really my point. If the best player in the world can miss from 12 yards, your kid can miss one too, and that's OK. What matters is the next play. I always tell kids the miss is over, so go get the ball back. Winter break is about two weeks long, and I always tell parents the hard part isn't the first few days. It's the stretch between Christmas and New Year's when everybody's been inside too long. That's exactly when the Nike Zico FC Winter Indoor Camp runs: Monday, Dec 28 through Friday, Jan 1, 9 AM to noon at Foothills Sports Arena on South Kipling in Denver. It's indoors, so the weather doesn't matter, it's for ages 6 to 14, and every camper gets a Nike shirt. Five mornings of real coaching and a ton of touches, and they come home tired, which, to be fair, is half the reason you signed them up. Quick question for the Massachusetts parents. What does your kid actually do in a normal Saturday game? If they're on a big field with 11 a side, some kids only touch the ball a handful of times. In 3v3 there are only three players on the field, so your kid is on the ball constantly, and there's a goal every minute or two. That's what Black Friday looks like at our indoor tournament in Taunton on Friday, Nov 27. Every team gets at least 4 games, the top three get medals, and our referees vote on a sportsmanship award. Christian Pulisic just signed a new deal with AC Milan that runs through June 2031. Milan's statement says he's scored 44 goals in 141 appearances since he got there in 2023, and what they called out wasn't only his technical ability. It was his character, his consistency and his work ethic. Talent gets you noticed, but showing up and busting your butt every week is what keeps you on the field. To be fair, he's got plenty of talent too. The bottom line is that's a pretty darn good example for any young American player to follow. The Denver New Year's Day 3v3 is Friday, Jan 1, noon to 8 at Foothills Sports Arena on South Kipling. It's one day, every team plays at least 4 games, and you earn points toward the 2027 Kick It 3v3 World Championships in Vail, which is a pretty good way to start the year. It's Halloween, and in Colorado that usually means somebody's trick-or-treating in a snow jacket. That's exactly why the Boulder Winter Challenge is indoors. It's Saturday, Dec 19 at the Sports Performance Center in Lafayette, so no frozen fields and no snow delays. When you register you tell us whether your team is top tier, competitive or developmental, and we do our best to put you with teams at your level, because a 12-0 game isn't fun for anybody.
