Elder Okhiria Succeeds Baba Aladura Kassim as C&S US Council of Churches Chairman

The Chairman of the Cherubim and Seraphim Agbojesu United States/Canada Sub-Conference, Apostle General Dr Francis Okhiria, has assumed the chairmanship of the Council of Cherubim and Seraphim Churches in the United States following the appointment of Most Senior Special Apostle Dr Gabriel Olayinka Kassim as the Acting Spiritual Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide.

Elder Okhiria, who previously served as the first Vice-Chairman of the council, was elected chairman after Baba Aladura Kassim, who previously occupied the position, was elevated to lead the worldwide church in an acting capacity.

Speaking in an interview with Acts of Seraphs, the clergyman said his emergence followed a meeting of elders of the Council of Cherubim and Seraphim Churches in America, where his nomination received an overwhelming vote.

He said he accepted the responsibility with a commitment to strengthen unity among the various structures of the C&S Church in North America and expand the council’s influence.

He said, “The new role is very challenging. It gives me the opportunity to see how we can re-strategise our mission, mainly how to strengthen unity among the formal structures across the spectrum.

“Not taking into account the conferences because we are all one. So, my main focus will be how to get everybody together and also how to enlarge or increase the role of what the council does now, making it more visible across the continent of America.”

Okhiria said he would also work towards developing a stronger grassroots structure for the church in the United States, including the possibility of establishing districts that would enhance the council’s connection with members.

He said his administration would focus on extending the influence of the council across North America while creating a succession plan through greater involvement of young people.

“We’ve been on the right track since we started the organisation. My focus will be how to extend the influence of the council across North America and also how to gain the interest of the younger ones to build some sort of continuity, build some sort of succession plan. That will be my target or my main focus,” he said.

The new chairman said achieving the objectives would require working with all arms of the C&S Church and deliberately creating opportunities for youths and young adults to participate in the development of the organisation.

101 YEARS OF THE CHERUBIM AND SERAPHIM

Today, we celebrate Seraphim Day and 101 years of the Cherubim and Seraphim movement; a legacy of faith, prayer, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to God.

From generation to generation, the flame has remained burning. We honour the fathers and mothers who carried the faith before us, celebrate the present generation, and look ahead with hope for the generations yet to come.

Happy Seraphim Day to the entire Cherubim and Seraphim family. May the fire of the Seraph fold continue to burn brighter, and may we remain rooted in Christ as we carry this legacy forward.

Baba Alogbo for burial October 23

The late Supreme Head of C&S Unification Church of Nigeria and Spiritual Leader of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, His Most Eminence, Baba Aladura Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Abiodun Adewale Alogbo, will be buried on Friday, October 23.

The Secretary-General of the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria, Snr Apostle Tayo Ajose, confirmed this to Acts of Seraphs on Monday.

He said the funeral rites for the late Supreme Head will commence on Monday, October 19 till Saturday, October 24.

Baba Alogbo transitioned to eternal glory on July 30, 2026, at the age of 93.

He was formally installed as the Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria on September 20, 2025.

Elder Ajose, however, noted that his remains would be laid to rest in Lagos.

The scribe also explained that the church was still working on the detailed programme of events, adding that an official statement containing the burial arrangements would be released anytime soon.

He said, “The funeral activities will start on Monday, October 19, through Saturday, October 24. The interment will take place on Friday, and he will be buried in Lagos.

“The church will be involved from Monday to Friday, while Saturday is that of the family, which is a social event.

“We are currently working on the programme, and as soon as we are done, we will release a statement to formally announce the burial date and order of the funeral activities.”

He added that separate committees constituted by the C&S Movement Church and the C&S Unification Church of Nigeria would work together to coordinate the funeral arrangements.

Meanwhile, the C &S Movement Church had earlier announced the development in a notice sighted by the platform on Saturday.

The notice, signed by the church’s Secretary-General, Spr. Sp. Ap. Prophet Dr. Anthony Olusesan Samaye, stated that the Acting Spiritual Father of the church, Most Senior Special Apostle Pastor (Dr.) Gabriel Olayinka Kassim, had constituted a burial committee to plan, coordinate and oversee the funeral arrangements.

The notification, circulated among various cadres of church leadership, stated that the funeral programmes would hold from October 19 to 24.

It added that the venue and detailed programme of activities would be announced by the burial committee.

The church urged all districts, branches and members to cooperate with the committee throughout the burial arrangements.

C&S Ona Iwa Mimo Loses Spiritual Head, Baba Aladura Ibikunle

The Spiritual Head of Cherubim and Seraphim Ona Iwa Mimo Worldwide, Baba Aladura Joseph Aderibigbe Ibikunle, has joined the saints triumphant.

The church announced his death in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Apostle Matthew Olomitutu, on Monday.

According to the statement, Ibikunle died on Monday, August 31, 2026, at exactly 6:00pm.

“With gratitude to God Almighty for a life well spent, the entire members of Ona Iwa Mimo Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria and Overseas, wish to announce the transition to glory of our beloved Spiritual Father; Baba Aladura, His Eminence Joseph Aderibigbe Ibikunle,” the statement read.

The church said further burial arrangements would be announced later.

His death was earlier confirmed to Cheser media by the immediate past Secretary-General of the church, Special Apostle Aborode Elijah Tokunbo, who said the church would issue an official statement on the development.

The head of Ona Iwa Mimo North American Sub-Conference, Rev. Ap. Dr. Emmanuel Ade Oshiyoye, also in a statement on Monday disclosed that Baba Aladura Ibikunle served in the leadership position for 21 years.

He wrote, "Baba Aladura Joseph Aderibigbe Ibikunle was ordained as the Supreme Head of Ona Iwa Mimo Worldwide on the 13th of August 2005. For 21 years, he faithfully served the Church and the people of God, leaving an enduring legacy through his leadership, dedication, spiritual exploits, and commitment to the advancement of Ona Iwa Mimo.

After 21 years of great exploits in the "service of God and His Church, he went to sleep with his fathers today, the 31st of August 2026.

"His transition is a great loss to Ona Iwa Mimo, the Cherubim & Seraphim family, and all who were blessed by his life and ministry. Nevertheless, we take comfort in the assurance of Holy Scripture: Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”— Psalm 116:15."

The cleric's death comes barely a month after the death of the Supreme Head of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Abiodun Adewale Alogbo, who died on July 30, 2026.
