If you've never been, you've missed a treat (like 8 times already) 😁. 2027 marks our 9th Annual Irma P. Hall Black Theatre Awards named after the legendary attress Irma P. Hall. It is a fine night that celebrates the men and women both on and off the stage who contribute to the beauty of the storytelling that we call theatre. Your support allows us to continue to provide a space to celebrate these artists. Thank you!

Some of our Young Artists (and parents) wait all year for this to come. 3 power-packed weeks of immersion in the arts (singing, dancing, acting, scenic design, stage management, costuming, make-up) all while learning to recognize who they are emotionally and how to navigate through the world as Young Artists. Our camp features professional teaching artists that have a deep passion for The Arts, Life Lab speakers who lend their time to provide Life Skills and our UAC Summer Camp is one of the only camps to have a Social Emotional Specialist on staff. This is a key component that causes our families to come back year after year, because not only are we teaching them to "tell the story" we are teaching them to "create the story" they desire to tell in word, in feeling and in action. Thank you for your support.

All over North Texas people are being inspired to give to nonprofits that serve the community. We serve our community through The Arts, it's more than entertainment, it keeps us grounded in a truth when the ones we've known seem to fade. The Arts has always been a way to tell a story that has the power to resonate with so many people at the same time, impacting a worldwide audience. Giving is now open for North Texas Giving Day, we are grateful that you chose us.

September is special month for nonprofits. Especially with so many funding cuts directly attacking our arts programming. That's why supporting The Arts now is more important than ever. Your support provides a Young Artist a safe place to creatively blow off steam in a way that does not harm society or self. Being able to provide this space gives us purpose. Thank you for your support. Giving is now open through September 17th.

What if summer camp did more than teach kids how to perform?

At Urban Arts Center, young people didn’t just learn lines, choreography, and music—they learned confidence, discipline, teamwork, and emotional resilience.

This year’s culturally inspired production of “Matilda” showcased the incredible talent of Dallas’ next generation while highlighting something even more powerful: one of the region’s only youth theater camps with a dedicated social emotional specialist on staff, ensuring students grew just as much off the stage as they did on it.

From a former Urban Arts Center Dallas student returning to direct the production to a creative team committed to developing young artists at a professional level, this is a story about legacy, mentorship, and investing in our future.

The standing ovation was well deserved—but the real story happened long before the curtain rose.

Urban Arts Summer Camp spent the day at African American Museum Dallas exploring the Mandela Exhibit, and the conversations that followed were incredible. The experience sparked thoughtful dialogue, curiosity, and reflection. We wrapped up the day with a stop at FIFA World Cup 2026™ Dallas Fan Fest, where our students experienced art and performance at the highest level. Inspiring the next generation, one experience at a time.
